15th Pinery Fall Classic a huge success!

Categories: News

Despite the pouring rain at times, the 15th Pinery Fall Classic was a great success! The event gives those who enjoy running and walking in nature, a chance to experience the beautiful Pinery Provincial Park while doing so. The early morning began with the Fawn Run where the young runners were enthusiastically encouraged from the side lines by family members and other runners who were perhaps remembering their first run, and the moment which got them so excited about this sport! The rain did not seem to put a damper on anyone’s spirits, and all the participants gave it their all; running or walking on the courses which took them on the roads, trails and the beach.

The Pinery Fall Classic is a major fundraiser for The Friends of Pinery Park.

To date, the Fall Classic has contributed more than $93,000 to support education, preservation, research and enhancement projects in Pinery Park. Among recent projects: moth wall, rolling boardwalks, accessible dock, art backpacks, bat detectors for citizen science research, habitat stewardship research, species at risk research, nature journals and an “eco passage” to help critters cross the road safely!

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped us, the generous sponsors and to all the dedicated participants; from the youngest, to the oldest!
